The antibody detects endogenous levels of total DGKD protein.
Target Information
Diacylglycerol kinases (DGKs) phosphorylate diacylglycerol (DAG) to produce phosphatidic acid. Both DAG and phosphatidic acid act as second messengers in signaling cascades.
DGK isoforms have tissue-specific expression and regulatory functions:
- DGK-alpha: Influences cell activation and exosome secretion.
- DGK-beta: Abundant in brain regions such as the caudate putamen and olfactory tubercle.
- DGK-gamma: Expressed in various tissues, highest in retina.
- DGK-delta: Most abundant in skeletal muscle.
- DGK-epsilon: Specific for arachidonyl-containing DAG, mainly in testis.
- DGK-theta: Found in cerebellum and hippocampus.
- DGK-iota: Predominant in brain and retina; multiple transcript variants.
- DGK-eta: Related to DGK-delta.
- DGK-zeta: Abundant in brain and muscle.
DGKs contain structural motifs that play regulatory roles and form the basis for classification into five subtypes.
