Target Information

TSSC3 (Tumor-suppressing STF cDNA 3 protein), also known as PHLDA2 (pleckstrin homology-like domain family A member 2), BWR1C, HLDA2, or IPL, is a cytoplasmic protein involved in fetal and placental growth.
It is expressed at high levels in the placenta and adult prostate, and at low levels in the liver, lung, and brain.
TSSC3 functions as an apoptosis-related protein acting as a negative growth regulator during normal human development.
The protein, expressed from the maternal allele, is imprinted on placenta, liver, and fetal tissues during embryogenesis and is silenced after development.
Mutations or dysregulation of the TSSC3/PHLDA2 gene are associated with several disorders including lung, ovarian, and breast cancers, rhabdomyosarcoma, Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, Wilms tumor, low birth weight, and adrenocortical carcinoma.
