Target Information
GPR68 (also known as OGR1, ovarian cancer G-protein coupled receptor 1) is a proton-sensing receptor involved in pH homeostasis. It functions as an osteoblastic pH sensor regulating the cellular response to acidosis in bone tissue. GPR68 mediates its action via G proteins that stimulate inositol phosphate (IP) production or Ca²⁺ mobilization. The receptor is nearly inactive at pH 7.8 but fully activated at pH 6.8. It also acts as a tumor suppressor in prostate cancer. Mutations in GPR68 are associated with amelogenesis imperfecta, hypomaturation type 2A6.
