Target Information
Protein kinases are enzymes that transfer a phosphate group from a donor (typically the γ-phosphate of ATP) to an acceptor amino acid in substrate proteins. Through this mechanism, they regulate signal transduction pathways in eukaryotic cells, affecting metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, movement, apoptosis, and differentiation.
The protein kinase family includes over 500 gene products and is divided into eight major groups based on catalytic domain sequence comparison. The AGC kinase group comprises 63 kinases, including:
