CEACAM1 (Carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1) is a member of the CEA gene family, part of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It functions as a cell-cell adhesion molecule expressed on leukocytes, epithelial, and endothelial cells. CEACAM1 mediates homophilic and heterophilic interactions and plays roles in tissue structure organization, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and immune response modulation. Multiple transcript variants exist, with two full-length isoforms characterized.
