SHP-1에 의해 매개되는 단백질 티로신 잔기의 탈인산화는 여러 세포 신호전달 경로의 조절에 중심적인 역할을 합니다. 억제 수용체 초과가족의 두 가지 주요 유형은 ITIM(면역수용체 티로신 기반 억제 모티프)을 포함하는 수용체와 이를 포함하지 않은 활성화 수용체입니다. SHP-1에 의한 세포 신호 조절은 PILRα에 의한 억제와 PILRβ에 의한 활성화 간의 균형을 통해 이루어지는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 이 유전자는 억제 역할을 하는 ITIM-보유 수용체를 암호화하며, 두 수용체 유전자는 염색체 7에서 head-to-tail 형태로 배열되어 있습니다.
