Target Information
The DDX56 gene encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family, characterized by the conserved motif Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD). These proteins are putative RNA helicases involved in processes such as translation initiation, RNA splicing, and ribosome assembly. DDX56 exhibits ATPase activity in the presence of polynucleotides and associates with nucleoplasmic 65S preribosomal particles, suggesting a role in ribosome synthesis, particularly in assembly of the large 60S subunit.
