Product Specific Information

The RPA-T4 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD4, a 59 kDa cell surface receptor expressed by thymocytes, mature T-helper cells, and low levels on monocytes. CD4 serves as a receptor for HIV, and RPA-T4 blocks HIV binding and mixed lymphocyte reaction.
RPA-T4 recognizes a different epitope than OKT4, and the antibodies do not cross-block each other.

Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Pre-titrated and tested on normal human peripheral blood cells at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test.
A test is defined as the amount of antibody staining a cell sample in 100 µL final volume (10⁵–10⁸ cells/test).

• Alexa Fluor® 700 emits at 723 nm and is excited with a 633 nm red laser.
• Suggested optics: 685 LP mirror and 710/20 filter.
• Excitation: 633–647 nm; Emission: 723 nm; Laser: Red laser.
• Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.

Target Information

CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. It is expressed in T-helper lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Tissue expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and some brain and gut regions.
CD4 participates in early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck.
It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
