Description:
The UCHT2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD5, a 67 kDa protein expressed by most thymocytes, mature T cells, and a subset of B cells. CD5 signaling activates T cells and mediates T-B cell interactions via CD72 binding. The UCHT2 clone also recognizes primate CD5.

Applications Reported:
This antibody is reported for use in flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and tested by flow cytometric analysis of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended use at 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test (100 µL final volume). Suitable for 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test.

Fluorochrome Information:
Alexa Fluor 700 emits at 723 nm and is excited by the red laser (633–647 nm). Typical detection setup requires a 685 LP mirror and 710/20 band pass filter.

Target Information

CD5 is a 67 kDa human T-lymphocyte transmembrane glycoprotein found on all mature T cells, most thymocytes, and many T-cell leukemias/lymphomas. It also reacts with a subset of activated B cells and may regulate T-cell proliferation. CD5 is expressed by 95% of thymocytes and 72% of peripheral blood lymphocytes. Main reactivity is in T cell areas of lymph nodes. CD5 dysfunction is associated with thymus cancer and Richter's Syndrome.
