Target Information
STING is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-kappa-B and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce type I interferons (IFN-alpha and IFN-beta), establishing a potent antiviral state. STING may also function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and mediating apoptotic signaling via association with MHC-II. It is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane, and is ubiquitously expressed across most tissues.
