Target Information
STING (Stimulator of Interferon Genes) is a 379 amino acid signaling protein that plays a crucial role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferon (IFN-α and IFN-β) expression and promoting antiviral responses.
STING may also function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and apoptotic signaling via association with MHC-II. It mediates death signaling through ERK pathway activation and is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane.
STING is ubiquitously expressed across most tissues.
