Target Information
STING is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that plays a key role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways, inducing type I interferon (IFN-α and IFN-β) expression and promoting antiviral responses. STING may function as a translocon and participate in apoptotic signal transduction via association with MHC-II, aiding detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA. It mediates death signaling through ERK pathway activation and is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and mitochondrial outer membrane. STING is ubiquitously expressed across most tissues.
