Target Information
STING is a 379-amino-acid signaling protein that plays a crucial role in innate immune signaling. It activates NF-κB and IRF3 transcription pathways to induce expression of type I interferons (IFN-α and IFN-β), promoting antiviral responses.
STING may function as a translocon influencing interferon induction and is involved in apoptotic signal transduction through association with MHC-II. It mediates detection of intracellular viral RNA and B-form DNA, and triggers death signaling via ERK pathway activation.
Predominantly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, cell membrane, and outer mitochondrial membrane, STING is expressed ubiquitously across most tissues.
