Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열의 구성원으로, 주로 중추신경계의 성상세포(astrocyte) 및 일부 신경교세포에서 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 강하게 발현되며, GFAP 항체는 성상세포 마커로 널리 사용됩니다. 다양한 뇌종양 및 기타 조직(예: 간 Kupffer 세포, 침샘 종양 세포 등)에서도 GFAP 발현이 보고되었습니다. GFAP 유전자의 돌연변이는 Alexander disease를 유발하며, 대체 스플라이싱으로 여러 이소폼을 생성합니다.
