Target Information

GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속하며, 중추신경계의 성상세포 및 일부 astroglia, 말초신경계의 위성세포와 비수초성 슈반세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 GFAP가 강하게 발현됩니다. GFAP 항체는 성상세포를 표지하는 데 유용하며, 다양한 뇌종양에서도 GFAP 발현이 높습니다. GFAP는 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 일부 침샘 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고되었습니다. GFAP는 발달 과정에서 성상세포를 다른 교세포와 구분하는 마커로 사용됩니다. GFAP 유전자 변이는 드물게 Alexander disease를 유발합니다. 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 아이소폼을 생성합니다.
