Product Specific Information

PA1-066 detects Caveolin 3 from rat and mouse tissues and does not cross-react with caveolin-1 or -2.
It has been validated for Western blot, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry, and immunoprecipitation.
In Western blot, it detects an approximately 21 kDa protein corresponding to Caveolin 3 from rat heart homogenate.

The immunogen is a synthetic peptide corresponding to residues M(1)MTEEHTDLEARIIKDIHC(19)C of mouse CAV3, which shares ~85% sequence homology with human Caveolin 3.
The corresponding immunizing peptide (Cat. # PEP-081) is available for use in neutralization and control experiments.

Target Information

Caveolin-3 (CAV3) is a scaffolding protein within caveolar membranes that interacts directly with G-protein alpha subunits to regulate their activity.
It may modulate voltage-gated potassium channels and plays a key role in sarcolemma repair in skeletal and cardiac muscle cells.
Caveolin-3 mediates recruitment of CAVIN2 and CAVIN3 proteins to caveolae.
Mutations in CAV3 are associated with disorders such as HyperCKmia, rippling muscle disease 2, cardiomyopathy, long QT syndrome 9, sudden infant death syndrome, and myopathy.
