Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to reach a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
CD33 is a transmembrane protein of the sialic acid-binding immunoglobulin-like lectin (Siglec) family. It contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs) that recruit SHP-1 and SHP-2 phosphatases and mediate receptor removal via ubiquitination.
CD33 is expressed on myelomonocytic lineage cells, binds sialic acid residues on N- and O-glycans, and serves as a therapeutic target for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). It is present on granulocyte and macrophage precursors but not on pluripotent stem cells, and is a useful marker for peripheral monocytes.
CD33 helps distinguish myelogenous leukemia cells from lymphoid or erythroid leukemias.
Diseases associated with CD33 dysfunction include gallbladder lymphoma and extracutaneous mastocytoma.
