Product Specific Information
- In direct ELISAs, no cross-reactivity with recombinant human IL-2 R, IL-4 R, or IL-6 R is observed.
- Reconstitute at 0.5 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
- Endotoxin level is <0.10 EU per 1 µg of the antibody by the LAL method.
Target Information
The protein encoded by this gene is a signal transducer shared by multiple cytokines, including IL-6, CNTF, LIF, and OSM. It functions as part of the cytokine receptor complex, with activation dependent on cytokine binding. The viral IL-6 (vIL6) from Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus can directly activate this protein, bypassing IL6R. Knockout studies in mice indicate a critical role in regulating myocyte apoptosis. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
