Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45350 was sufficient for detection of ENaC alpha in 15 µg of Mouse whole kidney lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 85 kDa.
Target Information
Epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) are amiloride-sensitive members of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (Deg/ENaC) superfamily of ion channels. These channels share structural features, including two short intracellular termini, two membrane-spanning segments, and a large extracellular loop with conserved cysteine residues.
ENaC has three homologous isoforms (α, β, γ) and plays a critical role in sodium and fluid balance in the kidney, lung, and colon. It mediates aldosterone-dependent sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron, contributing to blood pressure regulation.
Mutations in ENaC subunits can cause disorders such as Liddle’s syndrome (gain-of-function in β or γ subunits) and pseudohypoaldosteronism type 1 (loss-of-function in α or β subunits).
