Product Specific Information
A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45349 was sufficient for detection of ENaC alpha in 15 µg of mouse whole kidney lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody. Detects approximately 85 kDa.
Target Information
Epithelial sodium channels (ENaC) are amiloride-sensitive members of the Deg/ENaC superfamily of ion channels. These channels share a common structure with two intracellular termini, two transmembrane domains, and a large extracellular loop containing conserved cysteine residues.
ENaC has three homologous isoforms: alpha, beta, and gamma. It plays a crucial role in sodium and fluid balance in tissues such as the kidney, lung, and colon. ENaC activity is regulated by aldosterone and is involved in blood pressure control.
Mutations in ENaC subunits are associated with disorders such as Liddle’s syndrome (hypertension) and pseudohypoaldosteronism type 1 (PHA-1).
