STAT1 (Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 1)은 STAT 전사인자 패밀리에 속합니다.
이 단백질은 인터페론 알파, 인터페론 감마, EGF, PDGF, IL6 등에 의해 활성화되며, 세포 성장, 세포사멸, 면역 반응, 지질 대사에 관여하는 여러 유전자의 발현을 조절합니다.
STAT1은 다양한 세포 자극 및 병원체 노출에 대한 세포 생존성 조절에도 중요한 역할을 합니다.
STAT1 유전자는 염색체 2에 위치하며, 세포 외 신호전달 폴리펩타이드(사이토카인, 인터페론, 성장인자 등)에 반응하여 활성화됩니다.
JAK 티로신 키나아제에 의해 인산화된 후 핵으로 이동하여 다양한 유전자의 전사를 조절합니다.
STAT 패밀리 중 STAT1, STAT3, STAT5a, STAT5b는 넓은 활성화 스펙트럼을 가지며, IFN, gp130, EGF, PDGF, CSF-1 등의 다양한 리간드에 의해 활성화됩니다.
