Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of beta Catenin only when phosphorylated at Serine 33.
Target Information
Beta-catenin is an adherens junction (AJ) protein essential for epithelial cell layer formation and maintenance. It interacts with E-cadherin and alpha-catenin, linking cell adhesion complexes to the actin cytoskeleton. Beta-catenin also associates with adenomatous polyposis coli protein and microtubules, participating in signaling pathways such as Wnt/Wingless. Dysregulation of beta-catenin is implicated in various cancers including colorectal, ovarian, and breast tumors. In the nucleus, beta-catenin co-activates Lef/Tcf transcription factors to promote expression of genes like cyclin D and c-myc, which drive cell proliferation and tumorigenesis.
