Product Specific Information
- 100% identical in rat and mouse.
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45632 was sufficient for detection of GFAP in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 50 kDa. Cross-reacts with GFAP-R416W and other GFAP mutant proteins.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S206A-8.
Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질군에 속하며, 주로 중추신경계의 성상교세포(astrocyte)와 일부 말초신경계의 비수초성 슈반세포(non-myelinating Schwann cells)에서 발현됩니다.
GFAP 항체는 astrocytic cell의 마커로 유용하며, 다양한 뇌종양과 신경줄기세포에서도 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한, 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 침샘 종양 세포 등에서도 보고되었습니다. GFAP 유전자의 변이는 Alexander disease를 유발하며, 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 isoform을 생성합니다.
