Product Specific Information
The MQ2-39C3 antibody reacts with human interleukin-6 (IL-6), a 21–28 kDa cytokine secreted by various cell types.
Applications Reported: MQ2-39C3 has been used for detection of human IL-6 by ELISA and immunoblotting (WB). The purified MQ2-39C3 can be used for blocking fluorochrome-conjugated MQ2-39C3 in intracellular flow cytometry experiments as a specificity control.
Applications Tested: Biotinylated MQ2-39C3 is routinely tested by sandwich ELISA for analysis of human IL-6 in combination with MQ2-13A5 and can be used at 1 µg/mL. Antibody titration is recommended for optimal assay performance.
Purity: >90%, determined by SDS-PAGE.
Aggregation: <10%, determined by HPLC.
Filtration: 0.2 µm post-manufacturing filtered.
Target Information
IL-6 encodes a cytokine involved in inflammation and B cell maturation. This endogenous pyrogen can induce fever in autoimmune or infectious diseases. IL-6 is mainly expressed at sites of acute and chronic inflammation, secreted into serum, and triggers transcriptional inflammatory responses via the IL-6 receptor alpha.
It is implicated in various inflammation-related diseases such as diabetes mellitus and systemic juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Elevated IL-6 levels are observed in viral infections, including COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2). Diseases associated with IL6 include Kaposi Sarcoma and Systemic Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis.
