• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid; dilute only prior to immediate use.
• In ELISA and other immunoreactive assays, recognizes both native and recombinant human IL-33 in cell supernatants and certain body fluids.
• A control of similarly diluted normal rabbit IgG is recommended.

Target Information

IL-33 (Interleukin-33) is a 270 amino acid protein belonging to the IL-1 family. It functions both as a proinflammatory cytokine and an intracellular nuclear factor with transcriptional regulatory properties.
IL-33 binds and signals through IL1RL1/ST2, recruiting MYD88, IRAK1, IRAK4, and TRAF6, leading to activation of NF-kappaB and MAP kinases. It induces TH2-associated cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13) and contributes to pathological changes in mucosal organs.
Highly expressed in high endothelial venules of tonsils, Peyer’s patches, and mesenteric lymph nodes; nearly undetectable in placenta.
In mice, prolonged IL-33 treatment causes eosinophilia, splenomegaly, and mucosal organ pathology.
Despite its predicted molecular weight, IL-33 often migrates at higher molecular weight in SDS-PAGE.
IL-33 can co-localize with heterochromatin and act as a transcriptional repressor, reinforcing its dual role as cytokine and nuclear factor.
