The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% (by SDS-PAGE).

Target Information

The cytochrome c oxidase (COX) family of proteins functions as the final electron donor in the respiratory chain, driving a proton gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane. This process results in the production of water and ATP. The mammalian COX apoenzyme is a dimer, with each monomer consisting of 13 subunits, both mitochondrial and nuclear.
COX8 (cytochrome c oxidase subunit VIII) subunits are nuclear and have muscle and non-muscle-specific isoforms. COX8 exists as three isoforms: COX8a (liver and heart), COX8b (heart-specific), and COX8c (expression pattern not fully elucidated). All three isoforms are components of the COX complex and play a critical role in electron transport.
