Target Information
Cytochrome b is composed of a light chain (alpha) and a heavy chain (beta). The CYBA gene encodes the light (alpha) subunit, which is a key component of the microbicidal oxidase system in phagocytes. Mutations in this gene are associated with autosomal recessive chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), characterized by defective superoxide generation essential for microbicidal activity.
