Target Information

PIK3C2G lipid kinase belongs to the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K) family, which play major roles in signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation, oncogenic transformation, cell survival, cell migration, and intracellular protein trafficking.
PIK3C2G contains a lipid kinase catalytic domain and a C-terminal C2 domain, characteristic of class II PI3-kinases that act as calcium-dependent phospholipid binding motifs mediating protein translocation to membranes and protein-protein interactions.
The N-terminal region and C-terminal C2 domain are required for enzymatic activity. The PI 3-kinase C2γ gene encodes a 1,050 amino acid polypeptide with 36% identity to human PI 3-kinase C2α.
Research indicates that PI 3-kinase C2γ can block the growth of human colon cancer cells.
