MN1020B targets PHF-tau (Ser202/Thr205) in IF, ELISA, and IHC (P) applications and shows reactivity with human samples.
The immunogen is partially purified human PHF-Tau.
MN1020B detects PHF-tau (Ser202/Thr205) with a predicted molecular weight of approximately 79 kDa.

Target Information

Tau is a neuronal microtubule-associated protein found predominantly on axons. Its function is to promote tubulin polymerization and stabilize microtubules.
The C-terminus binds axonal microtubules while the N-terminus binds neural plasma membrane components, acting as a linker between both.
In its hyper-phosphorylated form, Tau is the major component of paired helical filaments (PHF), the building block of neurofibrillary lesions in Alzheimer’s disease brains.
Hyper-phosphorylation impairs Tau’s microtubule binding, resulting in destabilization and neuronal degeneration.
Numerous serine/threonine kinases phosphorylate Tau, including GSK-3β, PKA, cdk5, and casein kinase II.
Hyper-phosphorylated Tau is also found in other CNS disorders such as Pick’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, cortico-basal degeneration, and progressive supranuclear palsy.
