Ezrin is a cytoplasmic peripheral membrane protein functioning as a protein-tyrosine kinase substrate in microvilli. As a member of the ERM family, it links the plasma membrane and actin cytoskeleton.
It plays crucial roles in cell surface structure, adhesion, migration, and organization, and is implicated in various human cancers.
A pseudogene exists on chromosome 3, and alternatively spliced variants have been described.
