Product Specific Information

  • The observed molecular weight of alpha-hCG and beta-hCG are approximately 20–22 kD and 27–32 kD, respectively.
  • The molecular weight is higher than the predicted value due to post-translational modification.
  • Product MA514699 is a smaller package size of MIH9801 (formerly sold as a Seradyn product).

Target Information

Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) is a placental hormone that stimulates secretion of the pregnancy-sustaining steroid progesterone.
hCG belongs to a family of glycoprotein hormones including pituitary hormones luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), and thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH).
These hormones are composed of disulfide-rich heterodimers with two distinct subunits: alpha and beta.
The alpha subunit is common among all family members within a species, while the beta subunit confers receptor and biological specificity.
