Target Information
The TOP1 gene encodes a DNA topoisomerase enzyme that controls and alters the topologic states of DNA during transcription. It catalyzes transient breaking and rejoining of a single DNA strand to allow strand passage and alter DNA topology.
This gene is localized to chromosome 20 and has pseudogenes on chromosomes 1 and 22.
