Target Information
GFAP (Glial fibrillary acidic protein)은 class III intermediate filament 단백질 계열에 속합니다. GFAP는 중추신경계의 성상세포 및 일부 astroglia, 말초신경계의 위성세포와 비수초성 슈반세포에서 강하게 발현됩니다. 또한 신경줄기세포에서도 높은 수준으로 발현되며, astrocytic cell의 마커로 널리 사용됩니다. 다양한 뇌종양에서 GFAP의 높은 발현이 관찰되며, 수정체 상피, 간의 Kupffer 세포, 타액선 종양 세포 및 적혈구에서도 보고된 바 있습니다. GFAP는 발달 중 성상세포를 다른 교세포와 구별하는 데 유용하며, GFAP 유전자 돌연변이는 Alexander disease를 유발할 수 있습니다. 이 유전자는 여러 전사 변이체를 생성할 수 있습니다.
