Product Specific Information
For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to obtain a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).
Target Information
Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein (IFP) found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It is involved in intracellular transport of proteins between the nucleus and plasma membrane.
During early cellular development, vimentin is co-expressed with desmin and later replaced by tissue-specific IFPs.
Vimentin plays a role in steroid synthesis by managing cholesterol-containing lipid droplets. Phosphorylation of vimentin leads to cytoskeletal reorganization, promoting cholesterol transport to mitochondria and enhancing steroid synthesis.
