Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL of distilled water to achieve a final concentration of ~1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).


Target Information

Vimentin is a developmentally regulated intermediate filament protein found in cells of mesenchymal origin. It plays a role in intracellular protein transport between the nucleus and plasma membrane. Vimentin is co-expressed with desmin during early cellular development and later replaced by tissue-specific intermediate filament proteins.
It is also implicated in steroid synthesis regulation through its role as a storage network for cholesterol-containing lipid droplets. Phosphorylation of vimentin leads to cytoskeletal reorganization that facilitates cholesterol transport to mitochondria, enhancing steroid synthesis.
