• Reconstitution:
  Briefly centrifuge vial before opening. Reconstitute lyophilized human IL-1α in deionized water to 0.1–1.0 mg/mL for full activity.
  Stock solutions should be divided into aliquots and stored at ≤ -20°C.
  Further dilutions should be made in low endotoxin medium or buffered solution containing heat-inactivated FCS or tissue culture grade BSA.

  Lyophilized form: store at 2°C–8°C, preferably desiccated.
  Reconstituted form: store at ≤ -20°C (avoid frost-free freezer).
  Minimize freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

IL-1α (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
Encoded by the IL1A gene on chromosome 2q13, it signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors shared with IL-1β.
IL-1α plays a key role in innate host defense by inducing other proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase responses.
Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which competes for receptor binding.
It is involved in immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis, and can induce apoptosis upon cell injury.
IL-1α influences NF-κB and MAP kinase pathways, stimulates IL6 and COX-2 (PTGS2) expression, and enhances nitric oxide production.
High IL-1α levels are linked to chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
