• Reconstitution:
  Centrifuge the vial briefly before opening to bring contents to the bottom.
  Reconstitute the lyophilized protein in sterile, deionized water to 0.1–1.0 mg/mL to regain full activity.
  Apportion the reconstituted protein into working aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C.
  Make further dilutions in low endotoxin medium or buffered solution with FCS or tissue culture grade BSA.

• Storage:
  Store the lyophilized protein at 2–8°C, preferably desiccated.
  After reconstitution, apportion into working aliquots and store at ≤ -20°C (not in frost-free freezer).
  Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Target Information

Interleukin-4 (IL-4) is a pleiotropic, immune-modulatory cytokine produced by activated T cells and serves as a ligand for the interleukin 4 receptor. IL-4 exhibits a broad range of biological actions. The interleukin 4 receptor also binds IL13, contributing to overlapping functions of IL-4 and IL13. STAT6 acts as a key mediator in IL-4 signaling. The IL-4 gene is located on chromosome 5q within a cytokine gene cluster that includes IL-3, IL-5, IL-13, and CSF2. IL-4 is positioned near IL13, and both genes are co-regulated by long-range elements over a 120 kb region. IL-4 delta 2 is a known splice variant of IL-4.
