Reconstitution:
Reconstitute recombinant human IL-5 in sterile distilled water to a concentration of 0.1–1.0 mg/mL after brief centrifugation. Do not vortex. The solution can be stored at 2–8°C for up to 1 week. For extended storage, dilute further in buffer containing 0.1% BSA and store in aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.
Storage:
The lyophilized protein is stable at room temperature for up to 1 month and should be stored at -20°C for long-term storage. Working aliquots with carrier protein are stable for at least 12 months at -20°C to -80°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Target Information
IL-5 is a cytokine that acts as a growth and differentiation factor for both B cells and eosinophils. It regulates eosinopoiesis, eosinophil maturation, and activation. Elevated IL-5 levels are associated with asthma and hypereosinophilic syndromes. The IL-5 receptor is a heterodimer with a beta subunit shared by IL3 and CSF2/GM-CSF receptors. IL-5, IL4, IL13, and CSF2 form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 5q31, regulated by long-range elements over 120 kb.
