• Reconstitution:
  Briefly centrifuge vial before opening. Reconstitute IL-8 in water to 0.1–1.0 mg/mL. Do not vortex.
  Store solution at 2°C–8°C for up to 1 week.
  For extended storage, dilute in buffer containing 0.1% BSA and store aliquots at -20°C to -80°C.

• Storage:
  Lyophilized protein stable at room temperature for 1 month; store at -20°C for long-term.
  Working aliquots with carrier protein are stable ≥3 months at -20°C to -80°C.
  Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.

Target Information

Interleukin 8 (IL-8, CXCL8) is a 72 amino acid pro-inflammatory chemokine belonging to the CXC subfamily. It binds to IL-8RA and IL-8RB receptors and acts as a chemoattractant and angiogenic factor.
IL-8 expression is induced by inflammatory stimuli in various cells, including macrophages and endothelial cells, and is stored in Weibel-Palade bodies in endothelial cells.
It contains an ELR motif (N-terminal Glu-Leu-Arg) and signals through CXCR1 and CXCR2 receptors.
Alternative names include NAP-1, GCP-1, MONAP, and protein 3-10C.
IL-8 and related CXC chemokines form a gene cluster on chromosome 4q.
Studies suggest IL-8 plays roles in tumor angiogenesis and bronchiolitis pathogenesis.
