Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of BCL-2 only when phosphorylated at Threonine 69.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that functions to either inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family can dimerize to modulate apoptosis. For instance, Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2 to enhance its anti-apoptotic effect, while Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria to initiate apoptosis. Overexpression or translocation of BCL-2, such as to the Ig heavy chain locus, is implicated in follicular lymphoma and other cancers. Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ in their C-terminal ends and are associated with human cancers including B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.
