Product Specific Information
Antibody detects endogenous levels of Bcl-2 only when phosphorylated at Serine 87.
Target Information
BCL-2 is a key regulator of apoptosis that can inhibit or promote cell death. Members of the BCL-2 family interact through dimerization to modulate apoptosis.
Bag1 forms a heterodimer with BCL-2, enhancing its anti-apoptotic effect.
Bax and Bak promote cytochrome c release from mitochondria, initiating apoptosis.
Constitutive expression of BCL2, such as translocation to the Ig heavy chain locus, is associated with follicular lymphoma.
Most follicular lymphomas express high levels of BCL-2 alpha protein, while normal germinal centers are negative.
Two transcript variants of BCL-2 differ at their C-terminal ends, and overexpression of BCL-2 is linked to cancers such as B-cell lymphoma and prostate cancer.
