Product Specific Information
The monoclonal antibody CC1 recognizes CD66a (CEACAM1), also known as carcinoembryonic antigen-related cell adhesion molecule 1, biliary glycoprotein, and BPG.
Expression is found on brush borders, epithelial, and endothelial cells. In hematopoietic cells, it is abundantly expressed on B cells and some NK cells, monocytes, DCs, and granulocytes.
Resting mouse T lymphocytes do not express CD66a, as confirmed by lack of staining with CC1 antibody. In humans, CD66a expression is associated with certain malignancies and plays a key role in regulating BCR activation in B lymphocytes.
An alternate allele, CEACAM1b, is expressed in SJL mice; thus, CC1 does not stain SJL tissue. The monoclonal CC1 has been shown to block viral infection and enhance B cell proliferation when combined with IgM crosslinking.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometry and immunohistology staining of paraffin-embedded tissue sections.
Applications Tested: Tested by flow cytometric analysis of mouse splenocytes. Recommended ≤0.25 µg/test in 100 µL final volume. Cell number range: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.

CEACAM1 is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) gene family within the immunoglobulin superfamily.
It functions as a cell-cell adhesion molecule found on leukocytes, epithelia, and endothelia, mediating both homophilic and heterophilic interactions.
CEACAM1 is involved in tissue differentiation, angiogenesis, apoptosis, tumor suppression, metastasis, and modulation of immune responses.
Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
