Product Specific Information
The VI-PL2 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD61 (Integrin beta 3, GPIIIa), a 90–110 kDa member of the beta integrin family expressed on leukocytes, platelets, endothelial, and smooth muscle cells. CD61 forms heterodimers with CD41 (αIIb) and CD51 (αV), mediating cellular adhesion, trafficking, proliferation, and differentiation.
- CD41/CD61 (αIIbβ3): Involved in platelet aggregation; binds fibrinogen, von Willebrand Factor (vWF), and fibronectin.
- CD51/CD61 (αVβ3): Binds vitronectin, fibronectin, vWF, and fibrinogen; plays a key role in endothelial cell migration and survival.
This antibody cross-reacts with canine and several non-human primate species (baboon, rhesus, cynomolgus monkey).
Applications Reported: Flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemistry, functional assays.
Applications Tested: Validated for flow cytometric analysis of human peripheral blood platelets at ≤0.125 µg/test (100 µL final volume). Cell number: 10⁵–10⁸ cells/test. Titrate for optimal performance.

CD61 (GPIIIa, ITGB3) is a 105 kDa glycoprotein found on megakaryocytes, platelets, and their precursors. It serves as a receptor for fibrinogen, fibronectin, von Willebrand factor, and vitronectin. CD61 associates with integrins CD41 (αIIb) or CD51 (αV) to form functional complexes involved in platelet aggregation and cell adhesion.
