Antibody detects endogenous levels of alpha 1 Catenin only when phosphorylated at Ser655/Thr658.
Target Information
Associates with the cytoplasmic domain of various cadherins. The association of catenins to cadherins forms a complex linked to the actin filament network, essential for cadherins' cell-adhesion properties. Can associate with both E- and N-cadherins. Initially believed to mediate linkage of cadherins to the actin cytoskeleton at adherens junctions, but later found that CTNNA1 does not bind to F-actin when assembled in the complex. The homodimeric form may regulate actin filament assembly and inhibit branching by competing with the Arp2/3 complex. Plays a crucial role in cell differentiation.
