Preparation
Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human RELMβ. The anti-Human RELMβ-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
Sandwich ELISA
To detect Human RELMβ by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required.
This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human RELMβ (500-P217) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Human RELMβ.
Western Blot
To detect Human RELMβ by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL.
When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Human RELMβ is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information
Adipose tissue acts as a regulated energy reserve and secretes numerous physiologically important proteins, including lipoprotein lipase (LPL), leptin, Acrp30, perilipin, and resistin.
Resistin (also known as Adipocyte Secreted Factor, ADSF, or FIZZ3) is a cytokine secreted by adipocytes. Although its function is not fully understood, resistin appears to play paracrine roles and is implicated in type 2 diabetes.
Studies indicate that resistin levels increase in obese, diabetic mice, antagonizing insulin activity. Additional studies show resistin induces insulin resistance and glucose intolerance in mice.
Resistin gene expression requires C/EBP alpha, which is necessary and sufficient for expression. Coactivators CBP and p300, known for histone acetyltransferase (HAT) activity, acetylate histones at the resistin promoter, activating chromatin for transcription.
Numerous PPARγ and RXR ligands have been shown to downregulate resistin expression in adipocytes.
