Target Information
Beta actin is one of six actin isoforms identified in human cells. It is a non-muscle cytoskeletal protein involved in cell motility, structure, and integrity. Beta and gamma actins coexist in most cell types as cytoskeletal components.
Polymerization of globular actin (G-actin) forms filamentous actin (F-actin) as a two-stranded helix. Actins are highly conserved and play essential roles in maintaining cellular architecture.
Because beta actin is ubiquitously expressed, it is commonly used as a loading control in protein detection assays such as Western blotting. Antibodies to beta-actin are valuable tools for studying cytoskeletal dynamics and intracellular distribution.
