Target Information

CtIP is a 125 kD protein originally identified as interacting with transcription repressor CtBP through the PLDLS motif, suggesting a role in transcription regulation.
It also interacts with BRCA1 protein via the C-terminal BRCT domains, indicating a potential tumor suppressor function.
This CtIP–BRCA1 interaction can be disrupted by DNA-damaging agents such as UV or gamma irradiation.
Li et al. (Nature 406, 210–215, 2000) demonstrated that ATM phosphorylates CtIP at serine residues 664 and 745, and mutations at these sites prevent BRCA1 dissociation from CtIP, resulting in persistent repression of BRCA1-dependent GADD45 induction upon ionizing radiation.
