Product Specific Information
Store vial at -20°C prior to opening. Aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below for extended storage. Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing. Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature. This product is stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid. Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human MAGP-2 protein. BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with MAGP-2 protein from human and chimpanzee based on 100% homology with the immunizing sequence. Partial reactivity is expected with MAGP-2 from mouse, dog, and rat sources (~75% sequence homology). Reactivity against homologues from other species is not known.
Target Information
This gene encodes a 25-kDa microfibril-associated glycoprotein rich in serine and threonine residues. It lacks a hydrophobic carboxyl terminus and proline-, glutamine-, and tyrosine-rich regions, which are characteristics of the related 31-kDa microfibril-associated glycoprotein (MFAP2). The similarity between these two proteins is confined to a central region of 60 amino acids, where alignment of seven cysteine residues occurs. Structural differences suggest distinct functions from MFAP2.
