Product Specific Information
This antibody detects a 130 kDa protein on SDS-PAGE immunoblots of human MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells. It is also recommended for immunocytochemical labeling of cells.
Target Information
TRPM8 is a receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in the detection of cool sensations, activated by cold temperatures below 25°C as well as by icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, and modulation of intracellular pH.
TRPM8 is permeable to monovalent cations (Na⁺, K⁺, Cs⁺) and divalent calcium ions (Ca²⁺).
It shows predominant expression in prostate epithelial cells, with moderate mRNA levels in normal prostate tissue and elevated levels in prostate cancer.
TRPM8 mRNA is also expressed in several non-prostatic primary tumors (breast, colon, lung, skin), while being low or undetectable in corresponding normal tissues.
