Specific for endogenous levels of the ~28 kDa Cdk5 protein.
Shows no cross-reactivity with the Cdk5 cofactor p35 or its degradation product p25.
Target Information
CDK5 is a member of the Cyclin-Dependent Kinase family, most abundant in the mammalian brain.
The active form of CDK5, also known as neuronal cdc2-like kinase, is a heterodimer of CDK5 and a 25 kDa protein derived from a 35 kDa neuron-specific precursor, essential for CDK5 kinase activity.
CDK5 plays a crucial role in neuronal migration during CNS development and phosphorylates various substrates involved in cellular processes such as adhesion, motility, synaptic plasticity, and drug addiction.
